Loan Servicing Specialist

 

Department:     Lending Department

Reports to:        VP Lending

Role:

Semi-complex to complex administrative, customer service, and data entry position providing support to the Lending Department.  Ensuring loan guidelines are followed and loans are posted to the credit unions core system in accordance with all company procedures.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of duties pertaining to the servicing of residential mortgage, equity loans and consumer loans in accordance with: the credit union policies and procedures, governmental regulations and in compliance with the terms of the loan approvals.

 

  • Prepare and process real estate and consumer loan documentation packages of varying complexity including but not limited to the Secondary Market.

  • Input/board loans to the credit union’s core system.

  • Maintain loan documentation in files; scan, index files into the electronic file system.

  • Process loan payments, payoffs and adjustments.

  • Provide quality assurance over loan documentation, collateral perfection, UCC filings, tax escrow systems and insurance tracking systems.

  • Reconcile various loan servicing reports, general ledger accounts, clear exceptions and resolve issues.

  • Review of daily reporting, tracking and reporting any exceptions or deficiencies found.

  • Responsible for daily insurance tracking of residential loans.

  • Prepare consumer loan closing documentation and filing of electronic docs in filing system.

  • Responsible for daily customer complaint log and documenting issues and problem resolutions.

  • Responsible for credit card processing, remittance, reporting of credit card portfolio.

  • Maintain a knowledge database of loans and mortgages in order to effectively navigate loan processes and documentation.

  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations including, but not limited to, Reg. Z, Flood, FACT Act/FCRA, HOEPA, SCRA.

  • Works to ensure charge offs and recoveries are processed correctly via the core processing system for accurate GL interfacing and reconciliation.

  • Process consumer credit disputes and/or corrections thru the E-Oscar system.

  • Assists Accounting Department with research, GL balancing and reporting including monthly reporting and/or remittance to the Secondary Market.

  • Completes year-end processing via core processing system.

  • Approve and assign the creation of new loan products, parameter changes and interface within core system and other bank processing systems.

  • Along with the supervisor develop new procedures, processes and policies that are flexible and maximize benefits to the credit union.

  • Document client interactions and accurately capture data.

  • Ensure loan guidelines are followed and loans are underwritten properly in accordance with all company procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and compliance issues pertaining to assigned work.
  • Attend workshops and seminars on issues pertinent to loan servicing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience: Three years of similar or related experience in Loan Servicing.
  • Knowledge of lending compliance regulations (Reg. Z, RESPA, Truth in Lending, Reg. B, HMDA).
  • Self-starter, self-reliant, dependable, ability to work within and meet specific time constraints.
  • Team player with positive attitude and willing to work well with others.
  • Proficient in loan processing systems.

Other Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; ability to work independently and as part of the team.

  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks, good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.

DEPARTMENT: Retail

REPORTS TO: Branch Manager

Part Time to Full Time

Float between Springfield and West Springfield locations

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities related to the delivery of transaction services to credit union members.  Cross-sells credit union products and services.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Receive shares and loan payments.

  2. Record and issue transaction receipts

  3. Handle withdrawals.

  4. Handle deposits.

  5. Sell money orders and travelers checks to members.

  6. Handle mail transactions and mail receipts

  7. Receive checks for deposit, verify proper endorsement.

  8. Account for all monies.

  9. Handle miscellaneous cash transactions.

  10. Balance cash drawer and make settlement of day’s activities.

  11. May be required to stand for extended periods of time (i.e. serving members at the teller line)

  12. May also be required to lift and transport bags of coin and currency to vaults or cash drawers.

  13. Answer members’ inquiries or refer questions to appropriate department.

  14. Cross-sell credit union products and services.

  15. Maintain office stock supply.

  16. General typing, filing, computer input and other miscellaneous duties.

  17. Develop a working knowledge of the credit union’s data processing usage.

  18. Develop an understanding of credit union policies, by-laws, and operational procedures.

  19. May be responsible for additional duties to support Member Services.

  20. Required to work weekends and/or extended hours.

  21. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by management.
